Renewables account for 33% of Azerbaijan’s energy mix
The share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan’s energy mix has reached 33%, according to official data.
The Energy Ministry said the country generated 2.83 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in May, of which 689 million kWh came from renewable sources.
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic reportedly met its entire electricity demand during the month through renewable energy generation.
Azerbaijan plans to further increase the share of green energy through the development of new solar and wind power projects. Officials expect a number of large-scale investments to further expand the role of renewables in the country’s power sector.
