Azerbaijan cuts nitrogen fertiliser exports by a third

Azerbaijan exported 124,028 tonnes of nitrogen fertilisers worth $53.5 million in January-May 2026, according to data from the State Customs Committee. (DGK⁠)

Export volumes fell by 32.2% compared with the same period a year earlier. Nitrogen fertilisers accounted for 0.38% of Azerbaijan’s total exports and 1.04% of non-oil exports.

Most nitrogen fertiliser exports consist of urea produced at the SOCAR Carbamide plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

The facility, commissioned in 2019, has an annual production capacity of about 650,000-660,000 tonnes of urea, with roughly 70% of output destined for export markets.
