Fire at Baku oil refinery extinguished, operations continue
A fire that broke out on the morning of June 18 at an oil refinery in Baku has been fully extinguished, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
According to the ministry, the fire occurred at about 0830 local time at catalytic reforming unit No. 31 following a release from the upper cover of heat exchanger No. 211/1.
The incident was quickly brought under control and the blaze was fully extinguished by firefighters from the State Fire Protection Service.
The refinery continues to operate in line with safety requirements and there have been no disruptions to the production process.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
