Abbaszade says Azerbaijan’s master’s entrance exams among easiest
State Examination Center Chair Maleyka Abbaszade said Azerbaijan’s master’s degree entrance examinations are, in some respects, among the easiest.
She said the exams assess basic information technology skills, foreign language proficiency and logical thinking.
“In today’s world, foreign languages and information technologies are the two main tools for scientific research,” Abbaszade said.
She noted that candidates have two opportunities to take the examination, allowing them to identify weaknesses and improve their results.
Abbaszade also said the center only administers foreign language exams for doctoral candidates and that the required B2 level is relatively easy to achieve.
Applicants may submit international language certificates instead of taking the national examination, she said.
She also questioned whether all applicants to master’s and doctoral programs genuinely intend to pursue scientific research, suggesting that some may use postgraduate studies to postpone military service.
