Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) plans to extend advance ticket sales for Baku-Tbilisi-Baku passenger services from the current 30 days to up to 90 days amid strong demand for the route, a senior company official said.

Azar Farajov, head of ADY’s passenger transportation department, said tickets for the international route often sell out shortly after becoming available because of high demand.

“We are planning to introduce a mechanism in the coming days to increase the active ticket sales period from the current 30 days to up to 90 days,” Farajov told reporters.

He said ADY had added extra carriages to trains on the route from June 11 and released additional tickets for sale.

Farajov said around 20,000 tickets had been sold since sales opened on May 21, including about 5,000 tickets purchased at railway ticket offices.

ADY does not allocate quotas to travel agencies or intermediaries, and all tickets are sold through a single system simultaneously via ticket offices, the company’s website and mobile application, he said.
