Azerbaijan restricts mobile phone use in schools

Azerbaijan has approved new rules limiting the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices in schools and preschool groups.

Under the regulations adopted by the Ministry of Science and Education, students will be prohibited from using mobile phones, tablets, smart watches and other electronic devices during classes.

Devices brought to school must be kept switched off or in silent mode and stored in designated areas until the end of the school day.

The use of electronic devices during lessons will only be permitted with a teacher’s approval and solely for educational purposes.

Students will be allowed to use mobile devices on school premises only in exceptional situations, including emergencies and health-related issues.

Schools will be required to inform parents about violations and apply preventive measures.
