Retirement age for men and women equalised in Azerbaijan

The retirement age for men and women in Azerbaijan became equal at 65 years from July 1.

The increase in the retirement age for women was completed under the country’s pension reform, which gradually raised the threshold by six months each year. The retirement age for men reached 65 in 2021. 

From July 1, 2026, the retirement age for women increased from 64 years and six months to 65 years, bringing it into line with the retirement age for men. 

The reform was launched in 2017 and envisaged a gradual increase in the retirement age for men until 2021 and for women until 2027.
