Azerbaijan expands access to commemorative coin sales

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has expanded access to the sale of commemorative coins, the regulator said.

From July 10, customers placing orders through the central bank’s online sales system for commemorative coins will also be able to choose TuranBank OJSC or Bank of Baku OJSC as collection points for their orders.

The two banks have been designated as sales agents for the online commemorative coin sales system, in addition to serving as sales agents for the central bank’s bullion coins.

The central bank said citizens could obtain information about commemorative coins currently in circulation through the “National Currency” section of its official website and place orders electronically through the online sales system.

The regulator said gold, silver and cupronickel commemorative coins are issued to reflect important historical events in Azerbaijan, promote national cultural heritage and art, introduce the country’s flora and fauna, and honour prominent figures.
