US revokes Brazilian ambassador's visa amid diplomatic tension

The United States has revoked the visa of Brazil's ambassador in Washington, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, amid escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

According to a U.S. State Department official, the move comes in response to Brazil’s refusal to grant diplomatic clearance (agrement) to President Donald Trump's nominee for ambassador to Brazil, as well as its refusal to issue visas to two American diplomats.

Washington characterized the action as a measure based on the principle of reciprocity, stating that the ambassador's visa could be restored once the dispute is resolved.
