Moody's affirms Azerbaijan's rating at 'Baa3' with positive outlook

International rating agency Moody's has affirmed Azerbaijan's sovereign credit rating at "Baa3" with a positive outlook, highlighting the efficiency of the country's prudential policy and banking supervision.

According to the agency's report, the enhancement of the supervisory framework and alignment of prudential regulations with international standards were identified as key drivers of banking sector stability. Moody's emphasized that current regulatory capital requirements continue to strengthen bank solvency.

The agency also noted that new capital buffers have already been introduced in Azerbaijan as part of the Basel III rollout, with full compliance expected by 2027.
