Court denies request to lift arrest on lawyer Elman Pashaev's Range Rover
A court has rejected an appeal by lawyer Elman Pashaev seeking to lift the seizure of his Range Rover, valued at approximately 5 million rubles. The SUV, impounded by court bailiffs, will remain under arrest and has been put up for sale as part of enforcement proceedings, Telegram channel Mash reported.
The seizure stems from an outstanding debt of 36.5 million rubles dating back to 2012. According to case files, client Nikolai Deryabin paid Pashaev for legal services that were never rendered. Although a fraction of the funds was refunded, the Moscow City Court in 2022 ordered Pashaev to pay the remaining balance alongside interest and penalties.
In an effort to retain the vehicle, Pashaev cited his military contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and requested a suspension of enforcement due to his involvement in the war. The court dismissed the argument and directed the vehicle to auction.
Pashaev is currently held in a pre-trial detention center on fraud charges. Prosecutors allege he extorted 20.1 million rubles and $300,000 from Alexei Blinovsky by promising to help him and his wife, Elena Blinovskaya, evade criminal prosecution.
