Nearly 700 former inmates secured employment in Azerbaijan in Jan-Jul
A total of 699 individuals released from correctional facilities in Azerbaijan were provided with employment between January and July 2026, marking a 29.9% increase (161 persons) compared to the same period last year.
The State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population disclosed the figures in response to an inquiry from Anews.az.
Among those employed during the first seven months of 2026 were 687 men and 12 women. In the corresponding period of 2025, 538 individuals in this category (529 men and 9 women) were placed in jobs. The growth reflects expanded labor market reintegration initiatives for former inmates.
The Agency added that former inmates are also actively integrated into broader active labor market programs; during the first five months of the year, 28 individuals were enrolled in vocational training courses, while 6 participated in self-employment programs.
