Major General Abbasali Novruzov laid to rest

Major General Abbasali Novruzov, former commander of the Azerbaijani Border Troops, has been laid to rest in Baku following his death at the age of 89.

According to news agency APA, the funeral ceremony was attended by the Chief of the State Border Service Colonel General Elchin Guliyev, Minister of Defense Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel General Karim Valiyev, senior military leadership, relatives, and members of the public.

Novruzov was appointed Deputy Minister of National Security and Commander of the Border Troops of Azerbaijan on April 8, 1994, serving in the post until 2001.
