Planetary geomagnetic storm hits Earth, marking third event in August — IKI RAS
Global networks of magnetic observatories have registered a planetary-scale geomagnetic storm, Vesti.az reported, citing the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS).
According to researchers, the geomagnetic disturbance was detected around 09:00 Moscow time and is categorized as a minor G1-class storm.
Scientists noted that while elevated geomagnetic activity had been anticipated, the fluctuations were initially projected to remain below the storm threshold. Researchers also emphasized the heightened level of solar activity this month, observing that this marks the third geomagnetic storm recorded within the first 18 days of August.
