Number of minimum pension recipients in Azerbaijan drops 63%
The number of individuals receiving the statutory minimum labor pension in Azerbaijan fell to 12,794 as of July 1, 2026, marking a 63% decline (down by 21,775 people) compared to 34,569 recipients recorded a year earlier, the State Statistical Committee said in response to an inquiry from anews.az.
The steepest decline occurred among recipients of minimum disability pensions, plunging 69.1% year-on-year from 1,176 to 363 individuals. Recipients of minimum old-age pensions dropped 62.8% from 31,722 to 11,799 people, while minimum survivor pension beneficiaries decreased 62.2% from 1,671 to 632 people.
Conversely, the roster of individuals lacking pension eligibility and receiving monthly old-age social allowances expanded by 6.8% (up 11,300 people) year-on-year, rising from 166,200 to 177,500 beneficiaries by July 1. Azerbaijan's monthly minimum labor pension currently stands at 320 AZN, while the baseline old-age social allowance is set at 220 AZN.
