Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of more than 55 kg of drugs from Iran
Azerbaijan’s State Border Service prevented an attempt to smuggle 55 kg and 105 grams of narcotic substances and 1,000 tablets of the psychotropic drug Methadone M-40 from Iran into the country, the service’s press centre said.
The operation was carried out in the service area of the Horadiz border detachment of the State Border Service.
During border searches and operational measures, one Azerbaijani citizen was detained on August 21 while allegedly attempting to bring 26 kg and 5 grams of narcotic substances and 1,000 Methadone M-40 tablets into the country.
On August 22, three more Azerbaijani citizens were detained while allegedly attempting to smuggle 29 kg and 100 grams of narcotic substances into Azerbaijan.
Operational and investigative measures are continuing in both cases.
