Number of Pediatricians and Children's Clinics Drops in Azerbaijan

The number of pediatricians practicing in Azerbaijan fell by 10.8% (396 physicians) year-on-year to 3,274 at the start of 2026, according to the State Statistics Committee.

In early 2025, the country had 3,670 pediatricians, lowering the ratio of pediatric doctors per 10,000 children under the age of 18 from 14 to 13. Over the same period, hospital beds designated for children decreased by 2.4% (109 beds) to 4,526, women's consultation clinics contracted by 8.5% to 97, and children's polyclinics and outpatient facilities dropped by 16.5% to 192.

Conversely, while the total number of children's sanatoriums remained unchanged at 11, their bed capacity expanded by 17.7% to 965, with the number of pediatric patients treated increasing by 2.4% to 3,018.
