Heavy Rains, Flash Floods Expected Across Azerbaijan: Ministry Issues Alert

Intermittent rainfall, localized downpours, thunderstorms, and hail are forecast across Azerbaijan's mountainous and foothill districts from the afternoon of September 1 through the evening of September 2, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service.

The expected precipitation is likely to raise river levels and trigger short-term flash floods in mountainous areas.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a public safety advisory, urging residents to stay clear of riverbeds, steep slopes, high trees, power lines, and billboards during strong winds and storms. The ministry advised moving to higher ground immediately in case of flood hazards and urged small vessel operators to refrain from navigating in rough weather, noting that emergency assistance is accessible via the "112" hotline.
