Azerbaijan targets higher value-added growth

One of Azerbaijan’s main economic goals is to increase the production of higher value-added goods and services, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the Baku ID 2026 innovation festival.

Jabbarov said talent, technology and a supportive ecosystem were key factors in achieving that goal.

“The role of talent, the role of people, is at the very centre. If there is an enabling policy, environment and ecosystem, the human role remains central,” Jabbarov said.

He said technological development, particularly artificial intelligence, was changing the skills required in the labour market.

One of Azerbaijan’s key goals in the coming period was to develop skilled human capital capable of taking full advantage of opportunities created by technological change, Jabbarov said.
