SOFAZ and Brookfield sign strategic investment partnership

The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and global alternative asset manager Brookfield—which oversees more than $1 trillion in assets—have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore joint investment opportunities across Azerbaijan, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The strategic alliance combines Brookfield’s global operating expertise with SOFAZ’s regional intelligence, targeting institutional capital deployments across energy and private equity sectors. Connor Teskey, CEO of Brookfield Asset Management, cited the region's strong resource base and rising energy demand as key commercial drivers, while SOFAZ CEO Israfil Mammadov underlined that the collaboration advances the sovereign wealth fund’s strategy of channeling long-term foreign capital into sustainable regional growth.
