Six in 10 men 'punch above their weight' in relationships as they pair off with better-looking women

Three-fifths of men say they have ended up with a more attractive partner

They claim that a sense of humour and good manners help them overcome lack of good looksWomen are not known as the fairer sex for nothing, it would seem.A survey has revealed that six in ten men readily admit they are ‘punching above their weight’ – because their other half is better looking than they are.But while most men feel inferior to their wives or girlfriends in the looks department, only one in four women believe their partner is better off in that way.The poll revealed that most men preferred their partner to be more attractive because it boosted their self-esteem, with a third saying the most important thing was to make other men envious. The study of 2,000 adults also revealed what men saw as the key attributes that helped them to land a better-looking partner, with being funny, a good listener and having good manners all deemed crucial. The research, for the Celebalike app, found getting on well with women, sensitivity and a good smile were also in the top 20.A cheeky 20 per cent of men thought having a more attractive partner made them more appealing to other women.A Celebalike.com spokesman said: ‘Although men seem to be quite grounded when it comes to how they see themselves against their partners, it’s clear they aren’t shy of self-belief either.‘Having confidence in your looks is a good thing, as long as it’s accompanied by a good personality and other attributes which are more important in the long run.‘Many of the elements men said led them to success were personality-based, like the ability to be funny, show intelligence and make good conversation.’The research also saw being articulate, smooth-talking, good in bed and well- travelled as boosting men’s confidence.Cooking skills, having money and smelling good were cited among men’s tips for attracting the other sex, as were dancing skills, chat-up lines and ‘having great hair’.A confident 58 per cent said they were capable of attracting women who were more attractive than them. But there is hope yet for the male species – three-quarters of the men surveyed said that, as they get older, they increasingly realise that personalwity is more important than looks.(Daily Mail)ANN.Az
