Türkiye says no Russian-Syrian military base built on its border

Türkiye says no Russian-Syrian military base built on its border

Türkiye has refuted claims that Moscow and Damascus have established a military base on the Turkish-Syrian border.

Zeki Akturk, Spokesperson for the National Defense Ministry of Türkiye, addressed these allegations during a weekly briefing.

Akturk stated that the allegations are not true and the spread of such misinformation should be considered as the weakening of PKK/SDG/PYD-YPG terrorist organizations in the region.

He emphasized, "If there is an attack attempt in the region, we will respond accordingly.”

The spokesperson also dismissed reports that a significant number of Turkish soldiers had been killed in the area: "Our operations continue successfully and effectively. Our coordination with Iraq is improving every day. Terrorist organizations and their media outlets spread misinformation from time to time. This is their last gasp.”

Akturk highlighted that the recent increase in the number of terrorists killed in the area is a testament to the ongoing operations of the Turkish Armed Forces.

"Terrorists hiding in caves are being gradually eliminated. Operations will continue until the area is completely cleared. There is very little left,” he added.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia and Syria had allegedly created a base on the Turkish border.
