The airspace of Russia and Ukraine will remain closed to flights to Europe until 2029, according to the official website of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol), reported from TASS.
"Currently, we assume that the airspace of Ukraine and Russia remains closed until the end of the planning horizon (2029),” reads the message. Eurocontrol notes that the number of flights through Northern Europe from Asia has decreased, as it was necessary to redirect routes through the South-Eastern countries.
Eurocontrol also emphasizes that the air travel industry continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine on February 24, many Western countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft.
