Trump says Israel and Iran asked him to help broker peace

U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel and Iran approached him “almost simultaneously” asking for help to end the conflict and bring peace to the Middle East.

“Israel and Iran came to me, almost simultaneously, and said: ‘Peace!’ I knew the time had come. Peace and the Middle East are the true WINNERS!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He said both countries face “enormous love, peace, and prosperity” in the future, but also warned they “have so much to gain, but also so much to lose if they stray from the path of righteousness and truth.” “God bless them,” he added.

Earlier, Trump claimed that both sides had agreed to a full ceasefire, with Iran expected to halt military activity first, followed by Israel 12 hours later. He said this would mark the end of the 12-day war.

A White House official told Reuters that Trump reached an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on June 23 during a phone call. At the same time, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Trump’s special envoy Steven Witkoff held direct and indirect consultations with Iranian representatives.

The official said Israel agreed to the ceasefire on the condition that Iran refrains from launching new attacks. Tehran reportedly confirmed it would not resume hostilities.
