Georgia hopes Venezuela may reverse stance on occupied regions after recent eventsd.

Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on recent developments in Venezuela, local media reported.

The ministry said Tbilisi is closely monitoring the situation and hopes that future developments will unfold in line with the interests of the Venezuelan people.

Georgia also expressed hope that the latest events could lead Venezuela to reconsider its recognition of Georgia’s occupied regions.

The statement recalled that the Venezuelan authorities, in what Tbilisi describes as a gross violation of international law, recognised Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and so-called South Ossetia as independent states.

“We hope that recent events will result in the reversal of this illegal decision in line with Georgia’s national interests and the principles of international law,” the ministry sai
