Trump says U.S. seized Iranian-flagged cargo ship in Gulf of Oman

U.S. President Donald Trump said U.S. forces seized the Iranian-flagged cargo ship TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman. Reuters reported that the United States said the vessel had tried to break a naval blockade and was heading for Iran’s port of Bandar Abbas.

Reuters said the U.S. side reported using force to stop the ship. Iranian military officials said the vessel had come from China and described the incident as “piracy.”

The episode comes amid continuing tensions over the U.S.-Iran ceasefire and Washington’s blockade of Iranian ports.
