Trump calls for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired after joke about the first lady
U.S. President Donald Trump called on The Walt Disney Company and ABC to fire TV host Jimmy Kimmel over a joke about first lady Melania Trump made shortly before a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Kimmel’s remarks as “beyond the bounds of decency” and said the network should take action.
Melania Trump also criticised the host, saying his comments were harmful to the political climate.
The joke was made days before the shooting in Washington, which authorities are investigating as a possible assassination attempt. A suspect has been detained.
