U.S. says EU countries are becoming finance and logistics hubs for terrorists
The United States believes its European NATO allies are becoming finance and logistics hubs for terrorists, according to the U.S. administration’s published counterterrorism strategy.
The document says uncontrolled mass migration into European countries serves as a channel for terrorists to infiltrate the region. Washington says Western states should immediately and significantly step up their counterterrorism efforts.
The strategy says it is unacceptable for wealthy NATO allies to serve as financing, logistics and recruitment hubs for terrorists.
At the same time, the document says European countries remain key and long-term partners of the United States in the fight against terrorism. It also describes Europe as both a target for terrorists and an incubator of terrorist threats.
