CNN says Strait of Hormuz remains Iran’s strongest leverage
Iran retains significant leverage over global energy markets through its ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, CNN reported, citing U.S. intelligence assessments.
According to sources cited by the broadcaster, despite recent U.S. and Israeli strikes, a large portion of Iran’s coastal anti-ship missile arsenal and about half of its missile launchers remain operational. Iran also continues to possess thousands of drones.
The report said anti-ship missiles remain Tehran’s most powerful tool for threatening traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.
U.S. intelligence officials believe Iran still has the capability to inflict significant damage on countries across the Middle East despite losses sustained by its military infrastructure during recent attacks.
