Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan exports less Azeri oil in first half of year

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline shipped 14.5 million tons of Azerbaijani oil in the first half of 2014, down from 15.2 million tons a year earlier, Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR said.

The BTC link delivered 2.3 million tons of Azerbaijani oil in June compared with 2.5 million tons year-on-year, the company said.

It also exported 301,587 tons of Turkmen and Kazakh oil in June, Socar said.

Azerbaijan cut oil production in January-May to 17.7 million tons from 18.1 million tons year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee said last month.

The Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields accounts for over 70 percent of Azerbaijan’s total oil production. It reduced output to 13.4 million tons from 13.8 million tons in the first five months.

BTC partners include BP, Socar, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Statoil, TPAO, Itochu and ONGC Videsh.
