Azerbaijan official calls for stronger legal framework to support women’s rights

Azerbaijan needs to improve its legal framework to strengthen women’s rights and expand their role in decision-making, Bahar Muradova, head of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, said.

Speaking at an international conference on empowering women’s voices for sustainable development, Muradova said efforts were ongoing to create a more favourable environment for women entrepreneurs.

She said discussions on women’s rights were important and stressed the need to enhance legislation in this area.

Muradova also called for greater participation of women in decision-making processes.
