Baku metro to resume operations at 1500 local time after outage

Baku Metro will resume operations at 1500 local time after a disruption caused by a fault in the supply of high voltage to the contact rail, the subway operator said.

Earlier, Baku Metro said emergency work was underway to fix the problem and that services would resume within an hour.

The suspension caused crowding at bus stops near metro stations, while taxi fares in parts of the city more than doubled, according to local media and passengers.

Trips that had previously cost 1-2 manat were quoted at 3-4 manat during the disruption, passengers said.
