Azerbaijan moves to fine social media platforms up to 50,000 manat
Azerbaijan is moving to introduce fines of up to 50,000 manat for social media platforms that violate requirements related to age-restricted services.
The proposed amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses were discussed in parliament.
Under the draft legislation, platforms that fail to provide required information to authorities or submit incomplete or inaccurate data could face fines of up to 20,000 manat.
Legal entities that fail to respond to official requests within the required period could be fined up to 30,000 manat.
Violations of safety requirements aimed at protecting minors on social media platforms would carry fines of up to 40,000 manat, rising to 50,000 manat for repeat offenses within one year.
The law is due to enter into force 12 months after its official publication.
