Azerbaijan traffic police warn drivers, pedestrians over strong winds
Azerbaijan’s Main State Traffic Police Department has warned road users about hazards caused by windy weather.
Yellow and orange weather warnings are in force in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula and several other regions, the department said.
Drivers of vehicles with trailers, covered loads and long cargo were advised to exercise particular caution and ensure that loads are securely fastened.
The police also urged motorists not to park near objects at risk of falling or shifting in strong winds and to use covered parking where possible.
Dust haze may reduce visibility on open roads, and drivers were advised to control their speed, maintain a safe distance and take particular care when overtaking or manoeuvring.
Pedestrians were also urged to assess weather conditions carefully and avoid behaviour that could endanger themselves or other road users.
