Armenian prosecutors launch criminal case against Kocharyan and Sargsyan

Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case against former President Robert Kocharyan on charges of abuse of office, taking massive bribes, and money laundering, Vesti.az reported.

According to official statements, prosecutors initiated proceedings covering three counts of abuse of power, two counts of receiving exceptionally large bribes, and four counts of large-scale money laundering during Kocharyan's 1998–2008 tenure.

Charges have additionally been filed against nine other figures. The accused include Kocharyan's eldest son Sedrak Kocharyan, former president and ex-defense minister Serzh Sargsyan, a former prime minister, a former mayor of Yerevan, and several prominent construction executives and developers.
