In contrast, overall marriage registrations declined. In the first half of 2026, district and city registry offices recorded 19,224 marriages, down 2.8% (551 fewer ceremonies) from 19,775 registered in the corresponding period of 2025. Across the entire year of 2025, Azerbaijan recorded 48,546 marriages.

A marriage contract is a legal agreement defining spouses' property rights and obligations during marriage and upon its dissolution, including asset division and family expenditure sharing. It does not govern personal non-property relations or parental rights and obligations regarding children.
