Divorces among childless families in Azerbaijan rise nearly 55% over five years
The number of divorces among childless families in Azerbaijan rose 54.8% between 2021 and 2025, from 6,777 to 10,491, according to a report by the State Statistics Committee.
A total of 20,675 divorces were registered in Azerbaijan in 2025, up 20.3% from 17,191 in 2021.
Almost half of all divorces recorded last year involved families without children, with 10,491 cases. Families with one child accounted for 4,284 divorces, while 5,900 divorces were recorded among families with two or more children.
Overall, 10,184 families with children divorced in 2025. In 2021, there were 3,900 divorces among families with one child and 6,514 among families with two or more children, meaning 10,414 families with children divorced that year.
As a result of divorces, 17,658 children continued to live with one of their parents in 2025, compared with 17,770 in 2021.
A total of 96,921 divorces were registered in Azerbaijan between 2021 and 2025, following which 93,083 children continued living with one of their parents.
The number of divorces reached a five-year high of 21,688 in 2023. The figure stood at 21,384 in 2024 and fell to 20,675 in 2025.
