Interior Ministry Warns of Cyber Scammers Impersonating Government Agencies

Cyber fraudsters targeting individuals in Azerbaijan are posing as representatives of various state agencies, urging victims to transfer funds to external accounts under the pretext of safeguarding bank deposits, the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned.

The ministry urged the public never to disclose personal identifiers, banking credentials, card CVV/CVC numbers, or one-time passwords (OTP) to unknown callers, advising against opening suspicious links or authorizing money transfers prompted by unsolicited calls.

State institutions never request confidential banking details or security codes via phone, social networks, or messaging applications, the ministry stressed. Victims or recipients of such fraudulent calls are advised to contact the ministry’s 102 Call Center or submit details via its official social media channels.
