Astronomical Autumn to Arrive in Azerbaijan on September 23
Astronomical autumn will arrive in Azerbaijan on September 23 at 04:05:08 Baku time, according to calculations released by the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University.
The autumn equinox marks the transit of the Sun across the celestial equator from the Northern to the Southern Hemisphere, initiating autumn north of the equator and spring in the south. While atmospheric refraction and the Sun's angular diameter keep daytime slightly longer than twelve hours on the equinox itself, days will subsequently shorten as nights lengthen across the Northern Hemisphere.
In 2026, astronomical autumn will span 89 days, 21 hours, 45 minutes, and 1 second, concluding with the winter solstice on December 22.
