Azerbaijani Interior Minister joins OTS ministerial meeting in Astana
An Azerbaijani delegation headed by Minister of Internal Affairs Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov has taken part in the 3rd meeting of Interior Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, discussions focused on bolstering multi-agency coordination against cross-border criminality, particularly extremism, human trafficking, cyber-enabled offenses, illicit drug trafficking, and irregular migration. Special attention was dedicated to streamlining operational collaboration in locating fugitives from justice and tracking missing persons.
Delegates reviewed the draft agreement establishing a dedicated Council on Combating Crime among OTS member and observer states, concluding proceedings with the signature of the third ministerial declaration. The participants agreed to convene the 4th ministerial meeting in Turkey in 2027. On the sidelines of the summit, the interior ministers of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan also signed a bilateral Agreement on Cooperation in Combating Crime.
