Azerbaijan produced 142,600 tonnes of urea in January-April 2026, down 27.4% from the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said.

Finished product stocks stood at 59,600 tonnes as of May 1, the committee said.

Urea is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019. It has an annual production capacity of 650,000-660,000 tonnes of urea, using 435 million cubic metres of natural gas per year as feedstock.

About 70% of the plant’s output is intended for export.
