Azerbaijan, Georgia integrate rail ticket sales systems
20.05.2026 17:30

Azerbaijan Railways is holding practical training in Tbilisi for Georgian Railways staff as the two countries move to fully integrate their railway ticket sales systems.

The training is aimed at linking the ticketing systems, enabling mutual monitoring of ticket office operations and coordinating operating procedures, Azerbaijan Railways said.

Ticket inspection, passenger registration and registry data entry procedures will also be tested during the training.

Until the full integration is completed, Georgian Railways will sell tickets using Azerbaijan Railways software. This will allow a unified sales and registration process, with Georgian ticket offices displayed on the Azerbaijan Railways platform in real time.

Azerbaijan Railways also said that, due to rolling stock-related difficulties on the Georgian side, carriages to Tbilisi will initially be hauled by Azerbaijan Railways locomotives.

At the first stage, transport along the entire route will be carried out using rolling stock and locomotives owned by Azerbaijan Railways.
