Azerbaijan to switch compulsory health insurance certificate to electronic format

Azerbaijan to switch compulsory health insurance certificate to electronic format
03.07.2026 13:00

Azerbaijan plans to create compulsory health insurance certificates in electronic format through a relevant information system.

Amendments to the laws “On Medical Insurance” and “On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” have been proposed.

The draft law was discussed at a meeting of parliament’s Labour and Social Policy Committee.

The bill aims to establish the legal basis for carrying out operations related to compulsory health insurance electronically through the information system of a relevant executive authority.

It also proposes regulating the dispensing of medicines used in outpatient treatment based on electronic prescriptions transmitted by pharmacies to the information system.
