Baku Port container handling rises 15% in first half
Baku International Sea Trade Port handled 61,000 TEU containers in the first half of 2026, up 15% from the same period last year, anews.az reported, citing Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.
Total cargo handled through the port exceeded 4 million tonnes in January-June, more than 4% higher year-on-year, according to the report.
Baku Port is part of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and is one of the main multimodal transport hubs on the Caspian Sea.
The port’s annual handling capacity is 15 million tonnes of cargo and 100,000 TEU containers. After the second phase of development, capacity is expected to rise to 25 million tonnes and 500,000 TEU.
Baku Port plays a key role on the Middle Corridor, supporting cargo flows between Asia and Europe.
