Azerbaijan, IMF discuss fiscal policy cooperation

Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Finance Minister Anar Karimov and an International Monetary Fund delegation led by IMF mission chief for Azerbaijan Anna Bordon discussed cooperation on fiscal policy and institutional development, the Finance Ministry said.

The sides reviewed Azerbaijan’s economic outlook, medium-term fiscal prospects, preparations for the next IMF Article IV consultations and priorities for future IMF technical assistance. 

Karimov said the government was continuing fiscal reforms aimed at strengthening macroeconomic stability, increasing the share of non-oil revenues in budget financing, gradually reducing transfers from the State Oil Fund and improving transparency in public financial management.
