GreenWorking Awards 2026 opens global call for sustainable tourism projects

Tourism organisations, production companies and creative agencies worldwide can submit entries free of charge until September 21, 2026.

The GreenWorking Awards 2026 has opened its international call for entries, inviting projects that promote sustainability through audiovisual storytelling.

Organised by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals, or CIFFT, in partnership with Spanish creative agency Normmal, the awards recognise sustainable tourism communication and responsible audiovisual production.

Now in its second edition, the programme aims to expand its international reach and strengthen its position as a platform for tourism campaigns aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The competition includes three categories.

The GreenWorking Production Award recognises projects that apply sustainable production practices, including reducing emissions, minimising waste, using resources efficiently, selecting responsible suppliers and limiting environmental impact.

The GreenWorking Message Award honours tourism campaigns that communicate compelling sustainability messages.

The GreenWorking Global Award will be presented to the project that best combines responsible production practices with an effective sustainability narrative.

CIFFT Director Alexander V. Kammel said the awards reflected a growing shift towards more responsible tourism communication.

“The GreenWorking Awards reflect a growing shift towards more responsible tourism communication, pushing the industry to rethink not only what it communicates, but how it produces it,” Kammel said.

“Tourism is one of the industries with the greatest reach into communities and ecosystems worldwide, and the stories it tells shape how millions of travellers behave. Rewarding the productions that get this right is how we push the whole industry forward.”

The international jury includes experts in sustainability, tourism, marketing and audiovisual production, with representatives from UN Tourism, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the European Travel Commission, the European Climate Pact and Biosphere.

Normmal CEO and jury president Alberto Fernández said the second edition sought to accelerate the transformation of tourism communication by encouraging projects that combine creativity with environmental responsibility.

The winners will be announced during the World Tourism Film Awards 2026, an annual event recognising leading tourism films and serving as the final stage of the CIFFT Circuit, which brings together nine tourism film festivals worldwide.

Additional information, competition guidelines and the entry kit are available on the CIFFT website. Applications are open until September 21, 2026, and participation is free.
