Azerbaijan MoF Places 146M Manats of Treasury Balances in Term Deposits in August
In a move to optimize public fund management and generate additional budgetary revenues, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Finance conducted six deposit auctions in August 2026, placing 146 million manats of treasury account balances into term deposits across commercial banks.
On August 6, the ministry placed 16 million manats for 28 days and 25 million manats for 84 days, both at a weighted average rate of 6.54%. An auction on August 13 allocated 21 million manats for a 28-day term at 6.54%, followed on August 20 by the placement of 35 million manats for 84 days at 6.53%. On August 27, two further transactions saw 19 million manats deposited for 28 days at 6.52% and 30 million manats for 84 days at 6.54%.
The Ministry emphasized that utilizing these short-term market instruments channels non-tax yields to the state budget while concurrently bolstering liquidity across the domestic banking system.
