TAP pipeline awarded UN OGMP 2.0 'Gold Standard'
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European final leg of the Southern Gas Corridor, has been awarded the prestigious "Gold Standard" reporting designation under the United Nations Environment Programme's Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0).
According to the TAP AG consortium, the recognition was granted under the framework spearheaded by the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO). Consortium officials underscored that securing the Gold Standard marks a milestone in elevating data integrity, empirical measurement accuracy, and transparency in methane tracking. "This recognition demonstrates the high level of methane emissions measurement and management across all pipeline facilities.
We will continue our efforts to reduce emissions, advance decarbonization, and ensure TAP’s resilience in an evolving energy landscape," TAP AG stated. Operational since December 2020, TAP supplies Azerbaijani natural gas to European consumers while strictly aligning with the European Union's rigorous methane oversight benchmarks.
