UK ambassador: “We are proud of our ties with Azerbaijan’s parliament”

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament Sahiba Gafarova held a meeting with the UK’s trade envoy to Azerbaijan, Lord Alderdice. The sides noted growing bilateral cooperation in areas including economy, trade, energy — particularly renewables — education and the defence industry.

The importance of high-level visits was highlighted, including President Ilham Aliyev’s trips to the UK and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to Baku during COP29.

UK Ambassador Fergus Auld wrote on X that the UK “is proud of its parliamentary ties with Azerbaijan,” adding that the meeting reaffirmed the need to promote dialogue on shared priorities and support the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process.
