Azerbaijani film “Over the Sky of Azerbaijan” presented in Madrid

The documentary film “Over the Sky of Azerbaijan” was produced on the initiative and support of Azerbaijani Embassy in Spain, devoted to the young pilots who studied in Azerbaijan during the civil war in Spain within 1936-1939s last century and presented in Madrid, News.Az reports. The spouses of the heads of the diplomatic corps and representatives operating in Spain participated at the presentation of the film.The story of Azerbaijan's film revolves around complicated and unusual fate of 15 Spanish military pilots who fought on the side of the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War in 1936-1939s of last century. In 1939 after the defeat of the Republicans in civil war, all pilots settled in Azerbaijan, served as an instructor in the preparation of Soviet Military pilots at Military Aviation School in Ganja where they trained. These pilots over the skies of the Caucasus heroically fighting defended Azerbaijan borders, especially oil fields and facilities of Baku.The monument in their honor has been built in Ganja for their heroism. Its script was written on the basis of archive materials and live interviews. Interview of the only surviving pilot who witnessed the events is a major goal on this film. The authors using this historical episode that connects Azerbaijani-Spanish people trying to present modern Azerbaijan to Spaniards, too.This film has already been presented in Barcelona.Bakudaily.Az
